Since 2017, Al Éxito is proud to announce 112 participants have received over $121,400, allowing students to make their academic dreams possible. This year we need your help to ensure we continue investing in the future of Latino youth!

Al Éxito's Mary E. Campos Scholarship Program honors the great work of the Des Moines civil rights leader.  Mrs. Campos exemplifies the mission of Al Éxito, in empowering the Latino community and especially youth through education, leadership development, and civic engagement. This scholarship is the first created honoring Mrs. Campos and the first for Al Éxito. 

Mary E. Campos is a celebrated civil rights leader in Des Moines, Iowa. Mrs. Campos spends countless hours helping the community, especially non-English speaking Latinos. She was the first Latino inducted into the Iowa Women's Hall of Fame. She earned an Ohtli Award, the highest honor given from the Mexican Government to a Mexican descendant whose efforts have contributed significantly to the wellbeing, prosperity, and empowerment of Mexican communities abroad. 

Mrs. Campos serves on several boards and councils such as the Iowa Civil Rights Commission, League for United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), and is very active in the church.  Mrs. Campos also was one of the founders of the National Black and Brown Forum. Mrs. Campos continues to mentor youth and adults and help countless people gain their citizenship.

The Mary E. Campos Scholarship honors her dream to see young people, especially students of color, continue to study and fill positions of leadership within their communities. The scholarship is given to Al Éxito students who are engaged in their community, have a clear vision for their academic achievement, and need support.
